Patanjali Yoga Sutras..
These Sutras.tell us how to live your life. What is the meaning of human life. This human life is very rare we should not waste this valuable life in just gossiping and in search of meaningless things.Rishi Patanjali tried to give his knowledge about living life for a purpose, what should be our ultimate aim.that is to unite with the parameshvar.that is god.
Yog is addition when our ATMA unites with the supreme that is PARAMATMA.
how is that possible? practicing life style of a yogi..
what is that?.
lets read the preface or introduction of this book by Swami Vivekananda..Though many authors have translated this book of Patanjali yog sutra.
PREFACE_
The term Yoga Amorphism.which means it is a scientific study based on facts and its not based on fantasy. One question to all people that which is the best state the absolute or the pressent state.now what is absolute condition.?
Absolute condition is the undifferentiated state which is lifeless, dull, insensate. Our life begins with the absolute condition and ends in absolute condition.
Thinkers may think that our present state is the is the highest state of man.Life cannot be enjoyed in absolue state.undoubtedly present state is the highest state.this differentiated state is higher than the absolute.Because in the absolute there cannot be any quality.
There is an old solution.Man after death remains same, that all his good sides, minus his evil sides, remained forever.Logically stated this means that man’s goal is the world; This is higher stage and with the elemination of evil it becomes heaven....But this is childish silly and immature,is it possible a world with all good and no evil.Sanskrit logicians called "dream in the air"
Another theory..Man is always progressing and never reach the goal, but you cant go on and on forever there is no such motion whatevr force in nature comes back to the source
Thats why dont hate one day it will come back to you.If you love, that love will come back to you, completing the circuit. On other and practical grounds we see that the theory of eternal progression is untenable, for destruction is the goal of everything earthly.
↘️↘️↘️
DEATH(destruction)
There is no motion in straight line coming back from which it started
NEBULAE
Sun Moon and stars are produced and go back to nebulae.Plant dissolve in earth back. This law is uniform.Applied to all .We shall have to return to the origin.
What is origin?
Which is called God or Absolute.
We all came from God, and we are all bound to go to God, call
that God by any name you like; call Him God, or Absolute or
Nature, or by any hundred names you like, the fact remains the same. “From whom all this universe comes out, in whom all that is born lives, and to whom all returns.” This is one fact
that is certain.
Question arises, is going back to God the higher state,or is it not? The philosophers of the Yoga school answer emphatically that it is. They say that man’s present state is a
degeneration.
A ctually First we come from God and in middle he is man and than he goes back to God.However low he goes, he must ultimately
take the upward bend again, and go back to the original
source, which is God.
This is the method of putting it in the Dualistic form. In the Monistic form you say that man is God,and goes back to Him again. If our present state is the higher one, then why is there so much horror and misery, and why is there an end to it? If this is the higher state, why does it end?
Every seed must degenerate to become the stately tree. So it follows that the sooner we get out of this state we call “man” the better for us.
how to reach that state?
Absolute, which has been called the highest, is not, as some fear, that of the zoophite, or of the stone.
There are only two states of existence.
1.Stone
2.Thought
Is there not something infinitely superior to thought?
light vibrations..
low-----we dont see anything
little intense.....we can see thats light
More intense......It is dark to us.
Is the darkness in the end the same as in the beginning? Certainly not; it is the difference of the two polesGod does not think; He does not reason; why should He? Is anything unknown to Him, that He should reason? The stone cannot reason; God does not. Such is the difference.
There are much higher states of existence beyond reasoning. When you step beyond thought and intellect and all reasoning, then you have made the first step towards God; and that is the beginning of life. This that is commonly called life is but an embryo state.
The The next question will be, what proof is there that this state beyond thought and reasoning is the highest state?
YES
1.all the great men of the world, much greater than those that only talk, have declared that this is but a little stage on the way, that the Infinite is beyond.
2.they not only say so, but lay it open to everyone, they leave their methods, and all can follow in their steps.
3There is no other way left. There is no other explanation.
so next we start ...a way to live life as a yogi...

CONCENTRATION: ITS SPIRITUAL USES
1) atha yoganushasanam
Now concentration is explained. Now I give the explanation of yoga and its practice.
in other words lets begin the discipline of yoga.
2) yogashchittavrittinirodhah
yoga is the method to stop or retrain our mind from its different
vibrational modes.
For concentration on anything we have to focus like a laser, normal light is scattered but laser is on the point. So question is, can our mind focus like laser?
There is a saying that our eyes cannot see what a brain doesn't know.So eyes ears tongue, nose all external organs called as INDRIYA are connected to brain. Our brain that is conscious mind is called chitta and vibration of thoughts which arise from these indriya are called vritti i.e a whirlpool (भँवर ).Take away the brain centre which is in the head, the eyes will still be there, the retinæ complete, and also the picture, and yet the eyes will not see. So the eyes are only a secondary instrument, not the organ of vision. The organ of vision is in the nerve centre of the brain.
So whenever we try to focus or concenterate thses indriya or organs connected with the brain these distract us from the main aim or motive. Yoga teaches to tame these indriya.
Most of the people these indriya have conrtol over brain but yoga teaches us to control our indriya
